Art collector Charles Saatchi says he is divorced from his wife, TV chef Nigella Lawson.

It follows the publication of photographs that showed him his hands around her neck in a restaurant in London in June.

Saatchi, 70, who has accepted a police caution for assault, told the Mail on Sunday "was clearly a disappointment" to his wife.

He said it was a "painful" decision for him.

Mr. Saatchi said the couple had "become alien and distant" last year.

"I regret to announce that Nigella Lawson and I are divorcing," said the newspaper.
