Dozens of passengers were transported to hospital for treatment after escaping the jet crashed.

"What I saw was when he came to the earth at the last minute, you could see the front pop, and then down," said a witness.

Another man said: "It was much too small, too soon. Then comes the wheels and take the tail of the plane caught before it gets to the track. And then he collapsed on the track. "

Debris from the plane, carrying 307 people, was left scattered on the track.

Its tail was torn off and the fuselage was badly damaged by fire.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

"At this time, there is no indication of terrorism involved. FBI will work closely with the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) to this investigation to determine the cause of the incident," said David Johnson , Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Special Agent
